How Do We Help Children?

The experienced staff at Bethesda has created specialized treatment programs for child victims of sexual abuse. Such programs include:

Client Assessment
Each child and family member is seen individually for intake and assessment. The initial assessment is spent gathering history of the abuse and the history of the individual, as well as learning the specifics of the sexual trauma. After the initial assessment, the child is placed in the appropriate group or individual program (Girls Group & Individual Therapy or Boys Group & Individual Therapy) to begin psychotherapeutic treatment.

Preschool Program
Our Preschool Program is a therapeutic program designed for preschool-aged boys and girls. Sadly, the majority of Bethesda’s clients are preschool-aged.

Girl's Program
Bethesda provides an innovative therapeutic program for girls, ages 6 to 18. Bethesda’s Girl’s Program is a very powerful sisterhood. Girls, coming from many backgrounds, are able to form a bond and lend support for others. As they move through the program, they become leaders and change from victim to survivor to “thriver.”

Boy's Program: Knight School

Knight School is our therapeutic program just for boys between the ages of 7 and 18. This very special program is designed around the Knights of the Roundtable and their growth from “serfdom” to “knighthood.”

Camp BETH

Camp BETH (Where I learned to be Beautiful/Had Wonderful Experiences/Learned to Trust/and found my Heart) is a unique therapy program made available to a select group of 15 to 20 sexually abused girls, ages 10 to 13.

Outreach Program

The focus of Bethesda’s Outreach Program is to help break the cycle of child sexual abuse. Bethesda’s Outreach Coordinator has created special presentations to help reach that goal.

Parent Education & Support
Bethesda recognizes that children are part of a family, therefore, parents need to be involved in healing, too. While the children attend their group, non-offending parents participate in an educational/ support group as well.
