United Way of Central Oklahoma
Partner Agency

At Bethesda, we believe that no child victim of sexual abuse should be charged for our services. In order to provide this desperately needed service, at no charge to our clients, we rely on several funding sources.

VOCA - The Victims of Crime Act

Bethesda receives approximately 30% of its funding from the Victims of Crime Act .The Victims of Crime Act was created in 1984. With the passage of the Crime Victim’s Compensation Act, victims are helped in a variety of ways. One portion of the Act allocates some of these funds to individual states for distribution to service agencies. These funds make it possible for each state to award grants to agencies that give direct services to victims of crime. These grants help agencies offer services at no cost to the victims. Victim sexual abuse counseling is one of the eligible circumstances covered through VOCA. For more information about VOCA, please visit this website, www.crimevictims.gov.

DHS - The Department of Human Services

Approximately 22% of Bethesda’s funding comes from a contract with the Department of Human Services. DHS refers clients to Bethesda for treatment services. After invoicing DHS, Bethesda receives payment for clients that they referred to Bethesda for service. For more information about DHS, please visit their website at www.okdhs.org.

United Way

Bethesda receives approximately 20% of its funding from the United Way. The United Way addresses the most critical needs in a community and mobilizes that community through fundraising efforts. Bethesda, Inc. is one of the agencies that is assisted by the United Way of Norman. For more information about the United Way of Norman, please visit their website at www.unitedwaynorman.com.
