VOLUNTEER

Bethesda Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Bethesda! We are so grateful for your support of our organization and the families we serve. Below are a few of our ongoing volunteer needs. For more information or to schedule your volunteer visit, please contact Julie Sisler at julie@bethesdaok.org.

In Office - May require background check

  • Therapy & education material preparation - A number of our programs require materials that we make ourselves. Volunteers can come in to cut supplies for art therapy projects, create poster boards for our educational program, and organize therapeutic activity supplies.

  • Stop, Go & Tell presenter - Our educational program, Stop, Go & Tell, provides age-appropriate curriculum about personal boundaries and reporting abuse to children and adults across the state. Volunteers can receive training to become certified to give presentations at schools and community organizations in their area.

  • Special events - We are always looking for volunteers to help with the set up, take down, and overall running of our special events, such as our Swing into Spring fundraiser.

  • Fundraising - To keep our services completely free to clients, we rely heavily on our fundraising efforts. We always appreciate volunteers joining our fundraising team to call local businesses about scheduling benefit nights, addressing personalized thank yous to donors, and helping plan online and in person fundraisers.

  • Landscaping - We have a small garden outside our front door and would love help maintaining that area to provide an extra beautiful welcome for our clients!

  • Decorating our entrance - The ramp to our office could always use some sprucing up, whether that’s chalking the pavement, decorating the rails, or creating signage for the entrance.

  • Raffle/silent auction baskets - Each year, we host multiple community and fundraising events that feature silent auctions and raffles. In the past, we’ve had some amazing volunteers put together packages to be auctioned off.

  • Lobby supervision (shifts scheduled in advance) - As not all clients have a second adult to stay with them while their caregiver completes the intake process, volunteers can be available to supervise in the lobby so the caregiver can have privacy during this time.

  • Graphic design - We are always looking for help to create content for our social media, website, and newsletter. Anyone with a passion for design is welcome to share some samples and assist with our PR team!

  • Summer camps - Each summer, Bethesda hosts 4 day camps for clients. The preparation and completion of these camps is quite the undertaking, and volunteers are a key part to our annual success! Volunteers help prepare camp materials, secure meals, and set up activities.

Out of Office - No background check required

  • Baking treats - We keep a variety of snacks available for our clients, but nothing is quite as sweet as something baked personally for them! We are always looking for a volunteer to bring baked goods on a regular basis for our clients!

  • Gathering donations - Whether it’s in-kind donations of things like toys, snacks, and office supplies, or monetary donations through a personal fundraiser, we are so grateful for our volunteers that support us through donation gathering!

  • Deliver resources to community organizations - To help spread the word about Bethesda’s services and provide additional resources, we can use help dropping off brochures and flyers to various community organizations.
