The process of becoming an intern at Bethesda is simple yet detailed. All internships and practicums at Bethesda are unpaid.

Step 1: Contact clinical director, Sandra Wellman, and set an appointment for an interview. You can contact Sandra by phone: 405-701-2180 or email

During the interview Sandra will want to learn about you and your story on becoming a therapist. She will share the pros and cons of interning at Bethesda, give you a quick tour, introduce you to other therapist and allow you to ask questions. Please be prepared with questions.

Step 2: Decide if you want to intern at Bethesda. Take time to think about your internship, your goals and if Bethesda will help you reach those goals. Interview at other placements to help your decision. If you decide to intern elsewhere, let Sandra know ASAP. When making the decision please consider the actual work, understanding that trauma work is hard work.

Step 3: If you are accepted as an intern, Bethesda will need the following items:

  • Current resume

  • Official Transcripts

  • 3 professional references: Names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mails

  • A copy of your signed contract with your University. (this will come later)

  • The following information (to obtain a background check):

    • Full name and any previous names

    • Birthdate

    • Social Security Number

*Note: If you would like to intern at Bethesda, bring all of the above items to the interview.

Prior to beginning your internship Bethesda will require you to complete a 10-hour on-line training to become more familiar with TF-CBT
